MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Trainer David Fawkes has gotten plenty of attention the last two seasons as the developer of Harold Queen’s Florida homebred 3-year-old Big Drama, the leading juvenile developed at Calder last year; and Friday night sent out Alex and JoAnn Lieblong’s and Marilyn McMaster’s 3-year-old Duke of Mischief to post a 13-1 upset victory in the $250,000 Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows.

KILDARE, IRELAND – Lord Lloyd-Webber’s  Dar Re Mi became the first European horse to qualify for the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships following her half-length victory Saturday in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes (Grade 1) at The Curragh. The 4-year-old filly earned an automatic starting position into the $2 million Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (Grade 1), which will be run on Friday, Nov. 6 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.
