ARCADIA, Calif. – With Joe Talamo subbing in the saddle for a flu-ridden Rafael Bejarano, Mona de Momma closed swiftly to score a handy, 2½-length victory Thursday over slightly favored Mi Chiamano Mimi in Oak Tree’s $41,120 allowance feature for fillies and mares at six furlongs over Santa Anita’s Pro-Ride surface.



Homeister has live mount in Breeders’ Cup Marathon

LAUREL, Md. – Six years ago jockey Rosemary Homeister became the fifth female rider to have a mount in the sports’ greatest race, the Kentucky Derby. Next Friday, the 37-year-old will become the fifth female rider to have a mount in the game’s richest event, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

The race order and wagering menu was announced today for the 26th Breeders’ Cup World Championships, to be held on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Starting Monday, November 2, Aqueduct Racetrack will offer dark day simulcasts on Mondays and Tuesdays in addition to during the Holiday Break from Monday, Dec. 14 – Wednesday, Dec. 23. Aqueduct will not be open on Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25.

Two Laurel Park stakes winners headed to Breeders’ Cup

LAUREL, Md. – A pair of runners who won stakes during the 2009 Laurel Park winter meeting have been pre-entered in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (Grade 1). The 26th Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s richest event, consisting of 14 races and purses totaling $25.5 million, will be held at Santa Anita Park on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7.
