LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rahystrada took advantage when favored Karelian veered to the outside of the turf course along the backstretch and never was a factor in the race after a half-mile. Karelian appeared headstrong when the field passed under the wire the first time in the mile-and-an-eighth turf race as jockey Rajiv Maragh was having trouble keeping him near the hedge.



Delayed granted in UIGEA gaming rule enforcement

The U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve have authorized a six-month delay in the implementation of the regulations associated with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

The regulations were to have taken effect on December 1. The delay will extend through June 1, 2010.



Rachel Alexandra leaves for Fair Grounds in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Rachel Alexandra is en route to New Orleans by van and will arrive at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots late Friday afternoon, trainer Steve Asmussen confirmed Friday morning. Assistant trainer Scott Blasi told Churchill Downs officials that the 3-year-old filly left the Louisville, Ky. racetrack at 5:30 a.m.

Stardom Bound making comeback in Gazelle

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – A little over a year ago, Stardom Bound dominated the field in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies for her third consecutive Grade 1 victory.

In the five months following that win, Stardom Bound was sold to IEAH Stables for $5.7 million, was named Champion 2-year-old filly, and extended her Grade 1 winning streak to five.
