HALLANDALE, Fla. – Kingfield Stables’ Buddy’s Saint continued preparation for his highly-anticipated 3-year-old debut Saturday morning at Gulfstream Park as he breezed five furlongs in 1:01 for trainer Bruce Levine ahead of his engagement in the $250,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) going 1 1/8 miles here on Saturday, Feb. 20.



$62,768 Pick Six carryover at Santa Anita going into ‘Millions’

ARCADIA, Calif. — Saturday’s Sunshine Millions program got a little sweeter on Friday, as no one correctly tabbed six winners in Santa Anita’s Pick Six, resulting in a carryover of $62,768 into Saturday.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Purchased privately by Arnold Zetcher following a third-place finish when debuting in England, Irish-bred Andina made it two-for-two in the United States Friday when she mowed down her competition in Santa Anita’s $50,000 optional claiming feature for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on turf.



Southern Style wins Friday feature at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Maynard Chatters Jr.’s Southern Style, allowed to settle early, rallied outside the leaders when set down for the drive and won Friday’s $29,000 optional claiming sprint at Fair Grounds by two and a quarter lengths.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Stonestreet Stables and Harold McCormick’s Rachel Alexandra, named 2009 Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Award ceremonies Jan. 18 at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., was penciled in for a pick up in her training schedule Saturday morning at Fair Grounds, but after heavy rains hit the local oval prior to Friday’s third race, that plan might have to be updated.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Nominations for the Feb. 20 Grade II, $300,000 Risen Star Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles are due Feb. 6. Horses that were Early Bird nominees to the Louisiana Derby are automatically subscribed to the Risen Star. Otherwise, subscriptions are $300 each, with an additional $1,750 to enter and $1,250 to start.

HALLANDALE, Fla. – Nancy Mazzoni’s 3-year-old filly She Be Wild sealed an Eclipse Award campaign winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Santa Anita on Nov. 6 for trainer Wayne Catalano, and she is entered to launch her 2010 season in Sunday’s $150,000 Forward Gal Stakes (G2) going seven furlongs at Gulfstream Park.
