Tracksideview offers picks for the first day of Breeders’ Cup

Tracksideview’s entire handicapping team is offering it’s picks for the two days of Breeders’ Cup races at Oak Tree at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.  These selections cover the first day on Friday,  Nov. 6.

BREEDERS’ CUP MARATHON

Ron Correll’s Picks: 6-5-9-3

Mastery – St. Ledger win says he’s ready.
Father Time – He ran behind Mastery. You got to like him.
Man of Iron – Another euro with talent.
Nite Light – America’s best hope and it may not be good enough.

Rick Francis’ Picks:  6-5-3-8

Mastery – Group 1 winner will run all day.
Father Time – Step slower than countryman.
Nite Lite – Leave it on, he’s coming.
Cloudy’s Knight – Old timer gets up to fill out superfecta.

Bob Hill’s Picks:  6-5-8-4

Mastery – May be safest win bet of the weekend.
Father Time – If there is an upset, this guy would be the one.
Eldaafer – Long shot could add value to the spread tickets.
Cloudy’s Knight – Great old warrior will contend for a piece.

Kat Kubik’s Picks:  6-9-5-3

Mastery – Probably best overall.  Comes off tough group one win.
Man Of Iron – 2 for  2 on synthetic.  Step up but good pedigree.
Father Time – Proven on synthetic, main threat.
Nite Light – Will be a pace factor and should be good enough for fourth.

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE FILLIES TURF

Rick Francis’ Picks:  8-7-10-3

Lillie Langtry – 5 of 6 races run on straight course – to the bank.
House of Grace – All American girl. Tough in the stretch.
Tapitsfly – P.G. Johnson win no fluke.
Smart Seattle – Scariest in the field.

Bob Hill’s Picks:  4-8-10-3

Rose Catherine – Speed is always dangerous, and this gal has it.
Lillie Langtry – She’ll be pounded down to a price hard to play.
Tapitsfly – Will get great tracking trip behind the speed.
Smart Seattle – Will grow up to be a very good one.

Kat Kubik’s Picks: 10-4-8-11

Tapitsfly – Love how this filly has been coming into the race. Great mover.
Rose Catherine –   Only race on turf was impressive.  May get a good price.
Lillie Langtry – Top class Euro. She’s had a long year but has a good shot.
Junia Tepzia – Not much to go on but she looks to have lots of talent.

Ron Correll’s  Picks:  8-11-7-5

Lillie Langtry – This girl loves a firm course and she’ll get it.
Junia Tepzia – Team Valor brings her from Italy for this. Good move.
House of Grace – This is a big jump for this American lady.
La Nez – California girl could surprise.

GREY GOOSE  JUVENILE FILLIES G1

Bob Hill’s Picks:  10-8-3-11

Negligee – Her finish in the Alcibiades impressed me.
She Be Wild – This is a fine filly and could win with the right break.
Blind Luck – Hollendorfer goes for first ever BC championship.
Always A Princess – Loved her sire, and she could take them all the way.

Kat Kubik’s Picks:  3-8-6-5

Blind Luck – Nice wins right here in Calif. makes her the likely winner.
She Be Wild – Nearly undefeated synthetic specialist.  Should improve here.
Connie and Michael – Could be a freak but many regress off super debut. Lot to ask.
Bickersons – Pace factor who should improve off Calif. debut.  Ready for big one.

Always a Princess – She will turn the tables on the one below. I see a Bob Baffert weekend.
Blind Luck – What else would you call the daughter of Pollard’s Vision? A top filly.
Negligee – Will be coming late. Impressive at Keeneland.
Connie and Michael – Blew other maidens away. Very fast.

Blind Luck – Will be challenged but should shake free.
Beautician – Cajun jockey switch should do it.
She Be Wild – Will make up for last one.
Connie and Michael – It’s always the trainer’s “other” horse.

EMIRATES AIRLINES FILLY AND MARE TURF

Kat Kubik’s Picks:  6-2-7-1

Midday – Top class, will improve off last. Lots going for her. Look for great run.
Forever Together – Very strong closer with good chance. We know she likes the track.
Dynaforce – May get to dictate pace and could be tough to run down.  Nice long shot.
Visit – Nice try last year. Good distance, may set up better for her than in her last start.

Forever Together – I give this one a slight edge over number two; she defends.
Magical Fantasy – Coming into the race off three Grade 1 wins. Has home-field advantage.
 Midday  – The only Euro with a chance to spoil the party.
Visit – Right behind Magical Fantasy in the Yellow Ribbon.

Rick Francis’ Picks:  4-2-6-5

Magical Fantasy – 3 Grade 1 wins in a row. I’m sold.
Forever Together – Loves this distance and this race.
Midday – Firm turf is the only question.
Pure Clan – Hard working girl; needs clean trip.

Bob Hill’s Picks:  6-4-2-3

Midday – Dripping in class, but will have to take to firm ground.
Magical Fantasy – Will be more than a handful on her home ground.
Forever Together – I love this gal and hope she rebounds soon.
Rutherienne – Always finds a way to get in the top group.

SENTIENT JET FILLY AND MARE SPRINT

Ron Correll’s Picks:  9-7-2-8

Ventura – Defending champ and unbeaten at Santa Anita.
Informed Decision – Unbeaten on synthetics and has win over top one.
Sara Louise – One of two offered by Godolphin. Never been synthetics, but could be dangerous.
Seventh Street – The other Godolphin and dropping back in distance.

Rick Francis’ Picks:  9-7-2-3

Ventura – She could be first in a parking lot sprint.
Informed Decision – Just maybe a head behind archrival.
Sara Louise – With Frankie in the saddle always a chance.
Game Face – Connections say yes; surface the question.

Bob Hill’s Picks:  7-9-8-6

Informed Decision – Has never lost on synth.  Also never has faced Ventura.
Ventura -  The stretch run should be one special thing to watch.
Seventh Street – Like the turn-back angle in 7 furlong sprints.
Evita Argentina – Her one long run should get her past all but the top ones.

Ventura – Still on top of her game.  Will catch Informed Decision on this course.
Informed Decision – Nearly undefeated on synthetics against top competition.
Sara Louise – Good numbers, fresh filly, but no synthetic experience.
Silver Swallow – Nice closer has home track advantage. Won’t catch top three.

BREEDERS’ CUP LADIES’ CLASSIC

Rick Francis’ Picks:  1-2-4-3

Careless Jewel – Josie and Jewel get their crowns today.
Life Is Sweet – Life is sweet when there’s no Zenyatta.
Lethal Heat – Adds value to exotics play.
Mushka – Rounds out hi-dollar superfecta.

Bob Hill’s Picks:  1-2-7-8

Careless Jewel – Going, going, gone! 
Life Is Sweet – Location and distance are right up her alley.
Music Note – She is very capable of winning this for Godolphin.
Rainbow View – This is why she shipped to America.

Music Note – Will need best ever to beat the speed but is ready for a big one. 
Careless Jewel – May never get caught but she may be better on dirt.
Cocoa Beach – Has been improving and is ready for her best race of the year.
Mushka – Always shown talent and it undefeated on synthetics.  Could surprise.

Rainbow View – A very serious lady from across the pond.
Proviso – Disqualified from her win in the Spinster but still was the best.
Music Note – Her last two wins says she’s ready.
