LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trainer John Shirreffs scratched Zenyatta from the Grade 2, $350,000 Louisville Stakes on Friday at Churchill Downs because of an off track. Zenyatta, last year’s Eclipse Award-winning older filly or mare, is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss of California.
The Louisville Stakes would have been the 2009 debut for the unbeaten mare who has won nine times, all on a fast track.
Shirreffs had said earlier that he did not want her first start back since her win in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic in late October at Santa Anita Park to be on an off track.
