Lexington, Ky. – Keeneland magazine, published quarterly by Blood-Horse Publications, was recognized with the top award for general excellence at the 2009 American Horse Publications (AHP) annual awards program, held June 27 in New Orleans.
Published by Blood-Horse Publications since the spring of 2000, Keeneland magazine showcases the distinctive charm of Keeneland, as well as the unique treasures of Central Kentucky and the Thoroughbred industry.
In making their choice, the AHP judges described Keeneland magazine as “substantially more than the sum of its stories. It offers its readers a feel of the heritage and lifestyle of the Bluegrass and lets them be a part of it. A crafted editorial mix with stunning feature design, Keeneland magazine presents a fresh, innovative and often insightful look at topics that may have been visited before.”
“In just a few short years, editor Jackie Duke, creative director Suzanne Dorman, and the many people involved in the production of Keeneland magazine have skillfully nurtured the publication into one of the finest and most widely read regional lifestyle magazines in the country,” said Keeneland’s Director of Communications Jim Williams. “The staff at Keeneland is proud to partner with Blood-Horse Publications on a magazine that brings attention to the Central Kentucky community and the Thoroughbred industry.”
“Nothing gives our team more satisfaction than working on the next issue of Keeneland magazine,” Duke said. “We have a talented group of writers, photographers and artists who take great pride in creating this high-quality product, and we get tremendous support from our partners at Keeneland.”
