Outta Tune wins Sunday at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Maggi Moss’ Outta Tune took command in upper stretch and drew off to a five-length win in Sunday’s featured $48,000 allowance optional claiming sprint at Fair Grounds.

Six-time Fair Grounds leading rider Robby Albarado picked up his third win of the afternoon in the feature. Albarado moved into sole possession of second place in the local rider standings with 58 wins, three behind last year’s leading rider, Jamie Theriot. James Graham is third, one win behind Albarado with 57, with 20 days remaining in Fair Grounds’ season.

Conditioned by nine-time Fair Grounds leading trainer Tom Amoss, Outta Tune paid $7.20, $3.80 and $3.20, increased his career earnings to $109,695 with his sixth lifetime win in 20 career starts, and accomplished the six furlongs in 1:10.03.

True Course, always among the leaders, continued willingly late to be clearly second best, returning $5.80 and $3.60 while finishing a length in front of Unjust, who paid $6 in the show position after making the pace with early splits of 22.02 and 45.47.

Racing resumes Monday at Fair Grounds for a 10-race Lundi Gras program beginning at 12:30 p.m. It’s the final Monday racing program of the season.
