OLDSMAR, Fla. – The $65,000 Manatee Stakes will go postward on Saturday, January 30 with a field of 14 fillies and mares. Headlining the Manatee Stakes is Satans Quick Chick, a four-year-old daughter of Sky Mesa who has accrued $252,229 in her nine lifetime starts. Satans Quick Chick captured the Grade II Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland in her last start, and will make her four-year-old debut for owner Jerry Jamogotchian and trainer Eric Reed in the Manatee and will have the services of reinsman Leandro Goncalves.
Perf comes into the Manatee Stakes after a victory in the Minaret Stakes here at Tampa Bay Downs on January 2, which she won by 4½ lengths. Perf has shown an aptitude for running over the Tampa Bay Downs surface, having finished in the money in all five of her starts here. Rising Fever (BRZ) won last year’s edition of the Manatee Stakes; the six-year-old Put it Back mare is coming off of seven month layoff but has been training well, recording three bullet works at Payson Park in the month of January.
