TROT to hold fundraiser on May 1 at Tampa Bay Downs

TAMPA, Fla. – Thoroughbred Retirement of Tampa will host the first annual TROT the Track charity walk on Saturday May 1, 2010. Participants will enjoy striding around the 1 mile Tampa Bay Downs racetrack, prior to the day’s racing events, to raise funds and awareness for the retiring racehorses of Tampa.
The cost to enter is $30 per person, children are free. Registration includes a t-shirt and entry for the day’s races. After the walk, participants are welcome to stay and will enjoy various demonstrations throughout the day, as well as a visit from “Mouse” the Tampa Bay Downs mascot, and a raffle. This fun-filled day will wrap-up with the Kentucky Derby, being shown live on the Tampa Bay Downs tote board.
All proceeds from TROT the Track benefit Thoroughbred Retirement of Tampa (TROT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the safe retirement, rehabilitation, and adoption of Tampa’s racing Thoroughbreds.
TROT the Track kicks off on May 1st with registration beginning at 10:00 AM at the Tampa Bay Downs white tent. The walk begins at 11:00 AM on the dirt track and will end once the final participant crosses the wire; everyone will walk one lap around the “Oldsmar Oval”.
