United Nations Stakes highlights Monmouth on July 4

OCEANPORT, N.J. – Saturday’s $750,000 United Nations Stakes and Monmouth Park T-shirt giveaway top this weekend’s activities as the racetrack celebrates the 4th of July with special events and activities on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
 
In addition to live race cards Wednesday through Sunday, Monmouth Park will host three days of Family Fun Day activities this weekend, beginning on Friday, July 3.  Family Fun Days are from noon to 4:00 p.m. and feature clowns, pony rides, face painters, bounce houses and more to entertain the kids.
 
On Saturday, the Grade 1 United Nations and the Grade 3 $250,000 Salvator Mile will highlight the racing activities.  Both races are part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” series with victors receiving an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita on Nov. 7.
 
All paid admissions on Saturday will receive a Monmouth Park T-shirt, while supply lasts.  Live music that day will be provided by Cats on a Smooth Surface.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the MonmouthPark jockey colony will be signing autographs and accepting donations on behalf of the Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund, which aids disabled riders.  In addition to the Family Fun Day activities, The Kootz band will perform live “On the Green” on Sunday.
 
Gates open daily at 11:30 a.m. with first post set at 12:50 p.m.
