Jockey Rajiv Maragh gets 1,000th career victory

Jockey Rajiv Maragh got his 1,000th career win when he rode Mint Maker to victory in a $25,000 claiming race on Friday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Maragh was joined in the winner’s circle by fellow jockeys after the race, where a picture was taken to commemerate the achievement.

Maragh is a native of Jamaica and also rides the New York circuit where he was the second leading jockey in 2008 with 203 wins. He rode his first winner on Feb. 1, 2004, at Tampa Bay Downs. He won his first career Grade 1 race when guided Little Belle to victory in 2008 Ashland at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.
